Holi Skincare and Makeup Tips for a Radiant Celebration

Holi, the festival of colours, is a time to revel in joyous celebrations, vibrant hues, and delectable treats. Holi vibes in the air and as the occasion is getting nearer, I am sure that you would be ready with your plan for outfits, food and colours. However, amidst all the fun, it’s vital to take care of your skin and ensure your makeup stays intact.

Here are some tips to help you look radiant and protect your skin during Holi:

Pre-Holi Skincare:

Moisturize: Start by moisturizing your skin thoroughly. A good moisturizer acts as a barrier against the harsh chemicals in some colours. Opt for a thick, oil-based moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. There are some water-based moisturisers that are light and serve the purpose. You can also go for illuminating moisturisers that will double-up as makeup.

Oil Up: Apply a generous amount of coconut oil or almond oil to your entire body, including your hair. This will help in creating a protective layer, making it easier to wash off the colours later. Don’t worry about the oily look. When it comes to looks or taking care of hair/skin I’d choose the later. What about you?

Sunscreen: Don’t forget to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Holi is celebrated during the day, and prolonged exposure to the sun can damage your skin. Use one with no white-cast. There are few which double-up as skin tints, so choose one that suits your skin. This covers your skincare and makeup.

Makeup Tips:

Minimal Makeup: Keep your makeup minimal and lightweight. Heavy makeup can mix with colour and cause skin irritation.

Waterproof Products: Use waterproof and long-lasting makeup products to ensure they stay put throughout the festivities. Opt for waterproof mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick.

Lip Balm: Protect your lips by applying a thick layer of lip balm. This will prevent your lips from getting dry and chapped. Since it’s summer use one with SPF protection.

Post-Holi Skincare:

Gentle Cleansing: Use a gentle cleanser to remove the colours from your skin. Avoid scrubbing harshly as it can irritate your skin. Opt for a natural cleanser like milk or yogurt. Make sure to do double-cleansing.

Hair Care: Wash your hair with a mild shampoo and conditioner to remove the colours and nourish your hair. You can also use a hair mask for deep conditioning.

Hydrate: Rehydrate your skin by applying aloe vera gel or a soothing moisturizer. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from within. It’s summer time, so buttermilk, flavoured water anything works to keep you hydrated.

Avoid Makeup: Give your skin a break and avoid applying makeup for a day or two after Holi. Let your skin breathe and recover from the exposure to colours.

With these tips, you can enjoy the festival of colours while keeping your skin and makeup game on point. Happy Holi!

5 must try makeup trends from tik tok

The beauty industry and makeup trends never sleep. The learning process of implementing new hacks or viral trends is no longer tough. Social media keeps you updated on trends and do not forget the tutorials to let you join the bandwagon of trends.

Though we did keep ourselves confined at home for years, the beauty and skincare industry kept coming up with new trends that kept the ball rolling. Not only these bring out creativity but a lot of these gave a refreshing turn to the monotonous makeup that we have been putting on all these years. Most importantly, a few hacks helped minimize the cost of product purchase and saved a lot of time in terms of the hacks used.

So here goes the list of 5 must try makeup trends from tik tok.

Glazed donut everything

The term sounds yummy, but the benefit it yields is more worthwhile. Hailey Bieber had to say that she does not want to look like a glazed donut when she hits the bed. A lot of us would want the same, not have full makeup on when we have the beauty sleep. So it’s advisable to cleanse off the makeup and moisturize the skin before you go to bed. So when you wake up your skin is glistening and glowing.

Red nails Theory

Since @girlbosstown popularized last year that red nails were getting her a lot of attention, the trend has been coming back. It attracts the opposite sex because they have pretty much seen their moms wearing those during the 90s and taking care of them which is the reason why they seem attracted.
#rednailtheory tag is full of women posting how it really worked for them.

This viral trend is set to continue for some time longer though it became popular last year. The trend included applying blush from cheek to cheek and the tip of the nose giving a complexion flush during the winters when we come back from outside.

Wednesday Addams Glam

The goth glam comprising the ponytail, and smudgy eye makeup that Jenna Ortega portrayed in Netflix blockbuster Wednesday inspired thousands of beauty lovers to replicate the same. Beauty lovers eagerly anticipate the next season in Fall to get the trend.

The trend is to improve the efficacy of the active ingredients and minimize irritation through rest periods. Starting with exfoliating on one night followed by retinoid on the second and then resting on the third and fourth. Night two is most beneficial for the skin and helps treat acne to eczema. 3 and 4 are recovery nights that can just be followed up with cleansing and moisturizing. But if you have dry skin, you can just lock moisture with suited products.

So here are some tried and tested successful trends that can keep you busy trying them out for the next couple of days if you are a makeup or a skincare enthusiast like me. Let me know in the comments if you would be trying or already tried any of these trends.
